Drugstore Eye Bases - What I've Recently Tried and What I Think

Image
It's full blown summer here in Florida I don't want to wear makeup.  I've switched to a tinted sunscreen, which I talked about in a recent post.  Now I'm on the hunt for some easy cream eye bases that I can wear instead of my normal colorless eye base and powder eyeshadow.  I'm just trying to make my morning makeup routine super simple and quick.  So here are the four I tried this past week and my thoughts:

Here are all the shadows swatched.  Starting on the right are the four Revlon shadows, then Maybelline, Neutrogena and finally Almay on the far left.

I love the Revlon packaging of their cream quads.  It so cute and even when you open the palette, the shadows are so pretty.  The swatches are great too.  Unfortunately, these cream shadows have no staying power at all, even with an eye primer underneath.  They just disappear from my lids.

The Almay Intense I-color Liquid Shadow + Color turned out to be my favorite.  It's just dark enough to look like something…

Low Carb Grocery Haul - Making Some Changes

Image
I just became aware that Weight Watchers has changed their plan so that now it's really low carb, high protein, low fat.  I've been looking into it and in fact I ordered the shopping guide.   The plan looks really good and I based my shopping trip on the Smartpoints plan.  It's still very low carb, but also low fat and low sugar.  There are some carbs but in limited quantities.  My focus will continue to be low carb because that's what I like best.

Fresh fruit; bananas, grapes, strawberries.  I have several packages of individual serving fruit cups in the fridge from last week so I didn't buy too much fruit.  I will be eating more fruit because it's free on the Weight Watchers plan.
Dairy and Eggs:  I have a dozen eggs in the fridge so I bought a container of egg white to use with those.  The difference in my dairy this week is that it's all low fat or fat free.  The coffee creamer is sugar free.  Also, I bought a "butter" spray that's free an…

Low Carb Meals - What I Ate This Week

Italian lunch meats, cheese, green olives, cherry tomatoes, black olives, artichoke hearts.  This is a lunch for work.
I have this for breakfast a lot.  It's just a single serving of pineapple chunks with cottage cheese.
This is the same lunch as above with added avocado and coleslaw.
I took these salads for lunch.  On the bottom is kale and then lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers.  I made an oil and vinegar dressing to go on top.
I made beef stew in the crockpot and we ate it all week in the evenings.
I baked chicken breasts in pasta sauce.  I added some cheese on top and added green beans on the side.
This is egg salad with some cherry tomatoes on the side with a cup of coffee.  I had this for breakfast two days this week.
This is the same backed chicken with the pasta sauce and corn on the side.  Corn isn't low carb, but it was the end of the week and I just wanted some comfort food.  Corn is as close as I'm going to get because I've cleaned out my ki…

Saturday Shopping 5/21/16 - What I Bought Today

Image
I had a list for today as I do most weeks and I actually got everything on my list.  The only thing I got that I'm not showing is a white plastic table cloth.  I haven't taken it out of the package yet and it's just a white table cloth.  I moved an old dining table into the area between our kitchen and dining room to use as my office space.  Of course the cats love to lay up there so the table cloth gets covered in cat hair.  So, a plastic tablecloth just made sense.

Here's what else I got:

I saw this at the drug store and I thought it would be fun to try.  It's the Essie Gel Setter.  It supposed to make any nail polish look like gel.  We'll see.
Garnier Nutrisse Nurishing Color Crème permanent hair color.  This is the color I've been using for my roots for the last year.  I really like it.  I'm not sure it's any better than anything else, but I like the color.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral sunscreen.  I've used this brand before.  I wasn&…
